The Poço Azul Trail is one of the best trails and hiking trails in Gerês and any walker should follow it, crossing large forests and wild streams.
The trail gives access to some of the most breathtaking views in this area of Gerês and you can take a dip or dip your foot in one of the most beautiful wells in the National Park and the feeling of tranquility is extraordinary.
The trail is not marked at all and if you have some mountain hiking experience it is relatively easy to follow.
The complete trail to get to Poço Azul in Gerês and back from Cascatas do Arado is 8 km but you can take a longer trail.
At Miradouro das Rocas, passing by Cascata do Arado and going up the dirt park, following the road that goes up the mountain to reach Poço Azul in Gerês.
The part of the trail marked with red and yellow signs coincides with PR 14 and passing by the font of the letters and going down about 400m you will see the mark and pass the Curral and Fonte da Malhadoura, the Curral dos Portos on the left side, a walled agricultural field on the right side continue straight ahead until you find an intersection with a sign saying “Tribela”.
In the next few meters you can follow the white and red markings (Grand Route Markings - GR 50) and follow a little of the Shepherd's Trail until you go down to the Conho river, cross the Servas bridge and go up to the road (the climb is about 50 meters).
Visitors arriving at the road will have to turn left and walk about 100 meters and when they reach Curral do Pinhô (surrounded by a fence on the right side) and following the trail along the right bank of the Conho river for about 1km they reach Cabana do Poço Azul and about 100 meters further they will reach Poço Azul in Gerês.
