The city of Porto offers entertainment for all tastes. It's worth spending at least 3 to 4 days to prepare to hit the road, so the ideal is to choose a hotel or rent an apartment.

Take some time to get to know the city's attractions, visit São Bento Station, the music house, the Guerra Junqueiro museum house, the historic Ribeira neighborhood, Capela das Almas, with the entire facade decorated with world-famous Portuguese tiles. If you like reading a good book, be sure to visit the Lello Library, which is said to have been an inspiration for J. K. Rowling in describing many of the settings in Harry Potter.

In Vila Nova da Gaia you can visit several Port wine cellars, in each of which a guide will accompany you throughout the cellar facilities explaining where the grapes are harvested and the process of making their wines. At the end of the visit they will offer two glasses of wine for your tasting: one of red wine and one of white wine.

Tourist attractions include the Clérigos Tower, the Porto Cathedral, the Serralves Foundation, the Historic Center, the Bolhão Market, Foz as a highly touristic area where you can enjoy the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean and take a sea walk.

Finally, it is worth taking a round trip by boat along the Douro River, where you can enjoy the landscape full of vineyards and taste samples of the famous Port wine.
