São Pedro de Moel Beach
São Pedro de Moel Beach is in the parish of São Pedro de Moel, municipality of Marinha Grande, District of Leiria, in the Central region of Portugal.
The town gained importance during the reign of D. Fernando when São Pedro de Moel replaced the old port in Paredes and through donations made to Queen Santa Isabel it became an integral part of Leiria.
In 1463, D. Afonso V donated São Pedro de Moel to the Count of Vila Real, where the family remained until 1641, when the last Marquis of Vila Real and his son were executed, and the town became part of the assets of the Casa do Infantado.
São Pedro de Moel is completely located in the Pinhal de Leiria, south of the mouth of Ribeira de Moel and the beach here is very popular with families to rest and enjoy holidays during the summer period and used for surfing and bodyboarding.
In this place there is a playground with two volleyball nets, a tennis court, several cycle paths, two campsites, hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars.
