Camilo beach, located about 4 km south of the old town of Lagos, Algarve, Southern Portugal

Praia do Camilo is on the Costa D''Oiro between the city of Lagos and Ponta da Piedade and has a calm sea where we can see boats sailing in the transparent blue waters.

This beach is located between rock formations, accessed via a renovated blue flag staircase, lifeguard and bar/restaurant on the top of the cliff.

Tourists can walk along Avenida dos Descobrimentos and pass through Parque de Campismo Trindade (camping site), taking around 40-50 minutes to reach the beach.

Praia do Camilo nestled between jagged cliffs has a small sandy beach and by going down a staircase with around 227 steps you reach the beach which is excellent for swimming.

The beach should be visited outside of high season because it has a short beach and a large staircase that is in excellent condition but quickly becomes crowded.

The sheltered beach is reached by a set of 200 very steep wooden steps from the headland above.

The beach itself is very small and it's best not to arrive too late as the water rises as the day goes on and decreases in size.

Praia do Camilo is a place where you can snorkel, kayak and sail to Ponta da Piedade.

The clear water is excellent for swimming and the sandstone rock formations are some of the best on this stunning stretch of coastline.

On the cliff above the beach there is a restaurant with spectacular views and the next place of interest south of Praia do Camilo is Ponta da Piedade.

A beautiful beach with a very different setting than usual and has access to another beach through a tunnel and the water is clean and cool for very hot days.

In high season it can be difficult to find a place because the beach is very small and very crowded and the ideal would be to go at low tide because the sand is larger.

On this beach, all you need to do is enjoy the views to be satisfied with the color of the sea, the cliffs, the rocks, the sky and the horizon make this beach something unique and special. In this place lies Ponta da Piedade, which is an impressive rock formation with cut-out shapes and caves excavated by the sea.

This is one of the region's ex-libris that can be admired in its entirety on a boat trip touring the interior of the caves and the small deserted beaches nestled between the rocks.
