Carcavelos Beach is located in the Union of Parishes of Carcavelos and Parede between Parede and Santo Amaro de Oeiras.

Carcavelos Beach is one of the best beaches in Lisbon with soft golden sands, clear sea waters, extensive tourist facilities such as cafes, restaurants, water activities and beach sports.

Carcavelos Beach is extremely popular with Lisbon residents who go to the beach during the summer months, framed by the Fort of São Julião da Barra, it has the largest sandy beach on the Estoril line where volleyball and beach football championships are usually held.

Due to its proximity to Lisbon and ease of access, the beach is very popular during the summer, but in winter it is also frequented by surfers and bodyboarders who find excellent conditions for these activities here.

The sea on this beach is widely used for teaching surfing, which is considered the birthplace of national surfing, and it was in Carcavelos that some of the best national surfers emerged.

Carcavelos Beach, one of the most popular in the Cascais region, in Lisbon, is also a great reference when it comes to beaches, and also for surfing.

After all, it is a perfect beach to relax with family and friends, with a ritual of “first bath of the year”, a tradition that has been carried out at New Year since 1950.

The beach is more than 1 km long so it is very difficult to get too crowded, next to the beach is a large wall with restaurants and bars that stay open until late.

Despite being a great beach for surfing, sea conditions are only good in winter for the sport as this is when the wind and waves have the best directions for the formation of good waves at championship level, even forming some tubes.

In summer, the sea becomes more accessible for bathers, in addition to the beach becoming a stage for football and volleyball games, to get to the beach you can go by car or train, which leaves from Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon and takes just 20 minutes.

In winter, it has national-class waves where several surfers have already taken up the sport.

The beach forms a tubular and fast wave that saw the birth of charismatic surfers such as João Alexandre (Dapin), Luis Narciso, Rodrigo Herédia, Marcos Anastácio, José Gregório, Edgar Nozes and Tomas Saraiva Lobo (Tomi) and bodyboarders such as Paulinho Costa, Miguel Theriaga.
