It is located along the Algarve coast between the tourist destinations of Praia do Carvoeiro and Armação de Pêra, Algarve, Southern Portugal

Benagil is a small fishing village on the south coast of the Algarve that has gained fame in recent years due to the amazing cave that was formed there, but there is much more to discover in this picturesque village.

Benagil beach, located along the Algarve coast between the tourist destinations of Praia do Carvoeiro and Armação de Pêra, is one of the most popular beaches, whether for sunbathing or exploring the fantastic rock formations.

Its fame is mainly due to the cave located right next to the beach that appears at the top of the “destinations to see”, and thanks to the photos shared by visitors it has become one of the main attractions to visit.

Over the years, getting to the cave has become easier, which has caused an increase in the number of boats not only from Benagil but also from other areas of the Algarve that visit it.

To go to the Benagil Cave, visitors have to take tourist boats that can take them directly to the place, these tours are very popular especially during the summer.

Once in Benagil the main attraction is the beach which doesn't look very appealing due to its small size, but the largest part of the beach is behind the rock on the right side.

The sea in this area can be a little rough, so when entering the sea you should do so with some caution due to the rocks.

Tours departing from other beaches have the benefit of being able to see other spectacular caves with rock formations along the way, easy parking spaces and not having to wait so long to book your tour.

Other longer tours are also available to see the Benagil caves, including tours from the Marinas of Albufeira, Portimão, Vilamoura or Lagos, which allow you to make the most of the views and also see the Benagil cave.

Benagil is a small town, which revolves around a main street that leads to the beach, the street is quite steep, parking can be done on both sides, however due to the slope it is difficult to park unless you have enough confidence in the handbrake.

Once in Benagil, apart from the cave, the main attraction is the beach which doesn't look very appealing due to its small size, but the largest part of the beach is behind the rock on the right side.

As visitors approach the beach there are always many boats and on the right side there is a small snack bar, it is worth paying attention and not standing in the place where the boats pass as they are always entering and leaving the water, and not staying too close to the rocks as there could be a landslide.
