The Braga Public Library is located in Praça do Município, city of Braga, northern Portugal.
History of the Building
 
The library was founded by Manuel Rodrigues da Silva Abreu, formed with the bookstores of the convents extinct by law of May 28, 1834.

The Library was founded in 1841 and opened on September 16, 1857.

In 1911 Alberto Feio was appointed librarian and in 1934 it moved to its current location in the former Paço Arquiepiscopal Bracarense.
Currently the Public Library is integrated into the University of Minho
 
This Public Library has been part of the University of Minho since 1975, and has, since 1932, an excellent and wonderful legal deposit of all Portuguese books and publications. It currently has more than five hundred thousand volumes.
