Sintra is a city and municipality in the Greater Lisbon region of Portugal and is located on the Portuguese Riviera
 
Sintra is one of the most urbanized and densely populated municipalities in Portugal and is home to several cities, although the county seat is the town of Sintra, an important tourist destination famous because it has several historic palaces, castles, parks/gardens and beautiful beaches.

The area includes the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park through which the Serra de Sintra runs, the historic center of Vila de Sintra is famous for its romantic architecture (19th century), for its farms, historic villages, gardens, palaces and royal castles that resulted in the town being classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
