Cabedelo Beach is located in the parish of Darque, Municipality of Viana do Castelo, Northern Portugal
Darque is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Viana do Castelo also known as the village of onions and cod due to the existence of an old cod drought.
Praia do Cabedelo also known as Praia de Norte Darque is divided into two sandy areas, it is an oceanic beach in the northern hemisphere bathed by the Atlantic Ocean located on the coast of Portugal, municipality of Viana do Castelo.
The medium-sized northern area is located on a sandbank and part of the southern bank of the mouth of the Lima River.
The south beach is very large and is outside the riverbank, next to the largest pier there is a system of dunes adjacent to the bathing area and parking is quite generous.
One of the best beaches in the north of the country because it has a crescent-shaped bay about 1 kilometer long, fine sand and small dunes with plants and is sheltered from strong winds thanks to a pine forest.
The beach is excellent for kitesurfing as it is an area that receives on-shore wind from sea to land throughout the year.

Visitors can reach the beach from Viana do Castelo by road or take a ferry that crosses the river from the jetty located south of Largo 5 de Outubro and the journey lasts just 5 minutes and the boats leave every half hour from 9:00 - 19:00.
