Falésia Beach is located between the towns of Albufeira and Vilamoura, municipality of Albufeira, Algarve, Southern Portugal
A beach next to a huge cliff with the peculiarity that in certain areas it has a reddish color that starts at Praia do Barranco das Belharucas and extends to Vilamoura and is recommended for swimming as the sand has no rocks.
A beach flanked by a series of cliffs with ocher and white tones dotted with several green areas of pine trees that together create a spectacular panoramic view of great natural beauty.
The beach is immense in a continuous stretch of sand 5.5 km long flanked by a line of high cliffs in strong tones creating contrasting plays of color with the green stone pines.
Falésia Beach is more than 6 kilometers long and stretches from Vilamoura in the East to Olhos de Água (near Albufeira) in the West.
In this place, about half of the beach towards the Albufeira region is protected by cliffs of red and orange sand with pine trees at the top and beautiful flowers at the bottom such as the frugal thorny rose and the white sand lilies.
The beach is made up of two parts that are quite different from each other: the west side (near Olhos de Água) is famous for its high red cliffs.
This part of the beach is also called Açoteias where you can find several popular hotels just a few steps from the beach.
The east side (towards Vilamoura) is called Alfamar after the Alfamar Beach & Sport Resort and this part has lower cliffs and the further east you walk the lower the cliffs become.
The beach on the east side is very large and the waters are shallow and during low tide you can walk about 50 meters into the water which makes the beach especially suitable for children.
On the west side, the cliff is lofty but very soft, carved in sand and clay where the rain has no difficulty in generating sinuous reliefs with deep ravines.
On the east side, the cliff slowly lowers and remains sculpted and the rock that feeds the sand provides sand to the beach.
At the base of the cliffs, observe small sand cones where typical dune plants are growing: daffodil, sea kale, clove, Cretan clover and sea thistle.
