Peso da Régua is a Portuguese city in the district of Vila Real, in the Northern Region, in the Douro sub-region and in the former province of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, with 17,131 inhabitants (2011), Northern Portugal
 
Peso da Régua is the seat of the municipality of Peso da Régua with an area of ​​94.86 km 2 and 17,131 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 8 parishes.

The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of Santa Marta de Penaguião and Vila Real, to the east by Sabrosa, to the south by the Douro River (municipalities of Lamego and Armamar) to the southwest by Mesão Frio and to the west by Baião.

The municipality was created in 1836 through the division of Santa Marta de Penaguião, with its headquarters being elevated to city status in 1985 and also known as the international capital of wine and vineyards.

Names such as the doctor and writer João de Araújo Correia, Ferreirinha, Antão de Carvalho, Joaquim Manuel Magalhães, Jaime Silva (painter), José Correia Cardoso Monteiro, among others, were born in Peso da Régua.

Peso da Régua is the center of the demarcated Douro region, which is in the central part of the Douro Line between Porto and Pocinho and its main pilgrimage is the festivities in honor of Nossa Senhora do Socorro, which every year on the 14th, 15th and 16th of August attract thousands of people to attend different parts of the festival.
