Casa da Música is the main concert hall located on Avenida da Boavista, City of Porto, Northern Portugal.

The building was designed by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, but construction was only completed in 2005, immediately becoming an icon of the city.

The opening day concert took place on the 14th with Clã and Lou Reed, the space was only inaugurated on April 15, 2005, by the then President of the Republic Jorge Sampaio, the prime minister, politicians and society in Porto were present for the concert given by the Porto National Orchestra.

Casa da Música was built next to Praça de Mouzinho de Albuquerque where it was previously used to collect and repair trams that circulated around the city of Porto.

The Casa da Música ended up being inaugurated in April 2005, but the work was only completely completed in May of the following year.

The construction of the building brought new challenges to engineering in order to achieve the unique geometric shape that the building has. The engineering work was carried out by the companies Ove Arup in London together with Afassociados in Porto.

Casa da Música has two main auditoriums, although other areas of the building can be adapted for concerts or shows (workshops or educational activities).

The large auditorium has an initial capacity of 1,238 seats, but may vary according to the occasion.

The small auditorium is flexible, meaning there is no need to set a number of seats, although an average of 300 seats and 650 standing seats can be set, and at the top of the building there is a third performance space designed for 250 seats.

The building has an innovative architecture and was designed to accommodate all types of music, from classical to electronic, from jazz to fado, from major international productions to small experimental projects.

Casa da Música currently has two main auditoriums, but there are other rooms that are always used depending on the size of the event.

Sala Suggia is the main one and is named in honor of the Portuguese cellist Guilhermina Suggia.

Room 2 is the second largest concert hall at Casa da Música and was designed to cater for any type of event.

The Cibermúsica space was created for educational services, but later became another room for different events.

The Purple and Orange Rooms are two rooms that are used for educational and children's events, but the VIP Room is more used for closed events and small conferences.
