CDS Beach is located on one of the beach segments of the Costa de Caparica jetty, parish of Almada, District of Setúbal, Central Portugal

Praia do CDS has to the north the neighboring Marcelino beach and to the south Paraíso beach, one of the most popular in this area.

The beach has strong winds and is very popular with surfers in the region as it has waves that reach 2 meters in size in Costa da Caparica.

The beach was nicknamed "CDS beach" in the second half of the 1970s after the acronym "CDS" (Centro Desportivo de Surf) was painted on a stone on the north side of the jetty. It quickly became widespread as a name to distinguish it from the other beaches on the jetty.

CDS beach began to be used as a bathing area in the 1970s and reached its peak in 1987.

The beach ran out of sand and became empty with the change in currents at the beginning of the millennium until 2007 when the sand was replaced and it gained its current number of bathers.

The beach is around 300 meters long and is currently quite narrow and surrounded by a stone jetty with a tarmac walkway above and some bars.

One of the most popular in the area for surfing and bodyboarding and has the greatest amount of sand in the extreme south (close to the elbow of the wall) and in the corner formed by the spur that delimits the north it is shared by fans of the aforementioned sports.

The beach has the Ecalma P2 Car Park with around 375 spaces along the beach, toilets, showers, the beach is supervised by a lifeguard during the bathing season, the water quality is good and has a Blue Flag.

Praia do Marcelino has a small sandy area with two jetties on each side and is therefore more frequented by surfers because there is little beach space and surfing championships take place.

Since 1997, the International Surf Center has been teaching people how to surf and catch their first wave with the aim of each person experiencing and living the surfing lifestyle to the fullest.

Surfing is a sport carried out on the surface of the water where instructors teach different techniques and movements performed on the board first on land and then practiced at sea.

The beach is accessible from Rua Pedro Álvares de Cabral, parish of Costa da Caparica and where it is possible to view Lisbon and Serra da Arrábida from the beach. The attractions are: Cova do Vapor Beach, São João Beach, Santo António Beach, Marcelino Beach, CDS Beach, Paraíso Beach, Dragão Vermelho Beach, Nova Praia and Riviera Beach.
