The Museum of Portuguese Popular Art is housed in a Pombaline building, classified as a Property of Public Interest, formerly a granary built in 1776 by the Marquês de Pombal to store the cereals that came from his farm, Quinta da Gramela.
The building was remodeled by Pombal City Council in a project by Architect Reis de Figueiredo, with the rooms on the ground floor being restored and adapted to the museum project of the Museum of Popular Art dedicated to handicrafts.
The Museum of Portuguese Popular Art is located on the ground floor of the Pombal Cultural Center in the historic area of the city and contains on display a collection of around 2000 pieces of crafts from all regions of the country.
