It is located in the Cultural Center of Pombal, Praça Marquês de Pombal, city and municipality of Pombal, District of Leiria, in the province of Beira Litoral, in the region of Central Portugal
 
The Museum of Portuguese Popular Art is housed in a Pombaline building, classified as a Property of Public Interest, formerly a granary built in 1776 by the Marquês de Pombal to store the cereals that came from his farm, Quinta da Gramela.

The building was remodeled by Pombal City Council in a project by Architect Reis de Figueiredo, with the rooms on the ground floor being restored and adapted to the museum project of the Museum of Popular Art dedicated to handicrafts.

The Museum of Portuguese Popular Art is located on the ground floor of the Pombal Cultural Center in the historic area of ​​the city and contains on display a collection of around 2000 pieces of crafts from all regions of the country.

Masterpieces from all regions of the country come together to celebrate Portuguese popular art and the country's traditions and present pieces that bring with them a story.

The museum space is the result of permanent search and selection work by Nelson Lobo Rocha, a retired technician from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation over more than twenty-five years of coexistence with the artisans themselves.

The collection donated to Pombal City Council excels in its diversity, quality and quantity.

A large number of pieces and their enormous diversity of figures and motifs are of undeniable richness, facilitating the dispersion of the look and feel.

A museum located in the Centro Cultural de Pombal (Centro Cultural de Pombal) with two thousand craft objects from all over the country that showcase Portuguese popular arts.
